It has taken me a while to really decide this was the right decision for me. I’ve been toying with the idea for a while but the reality of walking away from an established career seemed more than i could do. So 15 years on the decision has been made for me. The industry is in crisis and thousands have lost their jobs. I found myself in an unlucky position as the trailing wife of an industry expat moved to a new location and unable to find a new job.
I have taken 18 months to dedicate to my son. he’s a handful and motherhood is a wonderful journey but i am getting rather desperate to return to full time employment now. I spent some months looking into career options. I focused on identifying transferable skills and targeting careers that fit within my particular areas of interest namely statistical modelling of data.
I’ve settled on a new career as a data scientist. This blog will document my transformation and the steps i have taken to successfully transition into a new career. Wish me luck and please do feel free to comment and share your opinions/tips.
